It’s the most influential form of music since the blues. Without it, there would probably be no remixes, nor hip-hop; drum and bass would be drum and bass and guitar and piano and what-have-you. Dub: the name speaks volumes of bass, drums and effects. Of smokey halls and big sound systems that you feel in your guts as much as hear. Of tiny studios pumping out bass frequencies like great tower blocks of sound. It’s as big a sound as the ears can imagine, and this earthquake of extreme musical pleasure began in Jamaica.
The generation that ruled the nation with version – a selection of the tuffest, ruffest and wildest tunes from reggae’s original mixing heroes. Including King Tubby, Lee Perry, Niney The Observer, and Prince Far-I, this is dub at its finest.
